What is the recency effect? The recency effect refers to our tendency to better remember and recall information presented to us most recently, compared to information we encountered earlier. The recency effect is one of two memory recall biases that make up the serial position effect, a phenomenon which describes how the location of an item in a sequence can impact its memorability.
